Abstract: Of the 25 sites added to the UNESCO World Heritage List on June 28, 2011, two are located in Japan. The Japanese Agency of Cultural Affairs has also submitted the “Churches and Christian Sites in Nagasaki," which are now on the tentative list of sites. These efforts related to World Heritage Sites both in-and outside of Japan have caused Japanese university students to pay attention to such sites, which in turn promotes interest in English learning. The purpose of this paper is to describe the background situation of the development of multimedia English for tourism e-learning materials concerning UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well as report the results of a questionnaire concerning the same topic administered to 271 students at the University of Nagasaki, Siebold.
